The Point of No Return

Arousal Curve & PONR

For many men, ejaculation feels like something that ‘just happens’. But, in reality, it follows a predictable physiological pattern known as the ‘arousal curve’. The key to greater control in intimacy lies in learning to sense where you are on that curve, during lovemaking.

The ‘point of no return'(PONR) marks the moment stimulation has built to such intensity that ejaculation becomes inevitable unless something changes. The work is not about suppressing pleasure, but about recognising the subtle signals that tell you you’re approaching that threshold.

Master Your Arousal Curve

Developing this awareness requires attention. Notice how your breathing changes as arousal rises. Observe the tension building in your abdomen, pelvic floor, and prostate. Feel how rhythm, intensity and stimulation influence the speed of your internal build-up. Over time, you begin to recognise distinct stages of arousal, rather than experiencing it as one continuous surge.

Once you can identify where you are on this curve, you can begin to regulate it. This may involve slowing the rhythm of stimulation, changing movement, using specific breathing techniques, or consciously engaging certain muscle groups.

Pelvic Control

A firm ‘outward contraction’ of the pelvic floor, combined with deep abdominal breathing, can for example actively diffuse the internal tension that drives ejaculation forward.

With practice, pelvic tension can be used as a deliberate tool rather than an unconscious reflex. You learn to work with it consciously, not to block pleasure, but to stop the body from crossing the threshold, even during prolonged stimulation.

This approach is highly effective because it works with physiology rather than against it. Instead of fighting the moment, you learn to regulate it. Instead of being carried by reflex, you remain grounded and responsive within the experience.

Mastery here is not about lasting indefinitely. It is about choice – the ability to remain present at high levels of arousal without losing awareness, control, or agency.
