Knocking on the Door
A Technique Perfect for Slow Sex
Knocking on the door describes the rhythmic movement of pulling the lingam completely out of the yoni before re-entering from a short distance, but only for about 1/3 to half the length of the lingam. In the Kamasutra, this technique is poetically referred to as ‘giving a blow’.
This movement can be very pleasurable for women as it focuses on stimulating the entrance to the yoni – an area rich in sensitive nerve endings. Many women describe the sensation of being ‘entered’ as more intense and pleasurable than deeper penetration. It’s a technique perfect for slow sex, where every movement is conscious and deliberate.
Lovers and clients alike often tell me how this practice makes them feel every millimetre of the lingam entering them. Importantly, this principle isn’t limited to vaginal sex. The anus also has a high density of nerve endings, making gentle, deliberate stimulation equally powerful and pleasurable.

Ebb & Flow of Pleasure Allows Sexual Energy to Build Up More Strongly
The next time you indulge in the dance of love, I encourage you to experiment with varying your movements, switching between different speeds, depths and rhythms. Notice how these subtle changes create waves of sensation that ripple through your and your partner’s bodies.
One of my favourite ways to explore this is a practice known as ‘wave riding’. Here you deliberately alternate between phases of slow, gentle and fast, wild impulses of penetration. This rhythm causes arousal and excitement to rise and fall like the tides.
This ebb and flow of pleasure not only intensifies the sensations by preventing the nerves from getting used to the rhythm, which is a common cause of numbness due to overstimulation, but also allows sexual energy to build up more strongly in both partners’ systems, which is a prerequisite for more advanced techniques such as ‘energy looping’.
