Avoid the Death Grip!
Unhealthy Masturbation Habit
Over the years, many men unconsciously develop the habit of gripping the penis far harder during masturbation than any partner ever would. While this may feel effective in the moment, it can gradually condition the nervous system to require increasingly intense stimulation in order to become aroused or experience pleasure.
Reduced Sensitivity & Numbness
This can result in reduced sensitivity, numbness and difficulty maintaining erections during partnered intimacy, as well as a growing disconnect from the subtler layers of pleasure available within the body.
I often encourage men to think of their penis as more of a delicate musical instrument than a machine. The more refined your touch becomes, the more sensations you are able to perceive.

Applying Varied Pressure
One simple way to cultivate this sensitivity is to experiment with applying lighter pressure and using a wider variety of stimulation techniques. Slow down. Explore different rhythms. Use your whole hand, rather than repeating the same movement over and over again.
Root Stroking
Sometimes I even enjoy practices that avoid stimulating the glans entirely. One example is a technique known as ‘root stroking’, where the focus remains exclusively on the base and shaft of the penis. This creates a very different quality of sensation and encourages arousal to spread throughout the body rather than becoming concentrated in a single point.
The goal is to develop a richer relationship with your body, your nervous system, and your capacity to feel. In many areas of life, applying more force creates faster and better results.
When it comes to pleasure, however, sensitivity and nuance are the real superpowers.
